The 2007 FIM Outdoor Trial World Championship arrives at an important moment for the mighty Repsol Montesa HRC team, with the Cota 4RT having recently gained its first World title in the hands of the newly recruited Antonio Bou. Bou’s dominance of the indoor series bodes well for the four-stroke in only its third year of competition at this level, especially with the twenty-year-old in such confident form. The Montesa attack will not be limited to just Bou, with multi World champion Dougie Lampkin and 2004 World title winner Takahisa Fujinami providing real strength and depth to the squad.
Laia Sanz who has made the Women’s World championship her very own, with a record seven successive wins, will once again join the male members. Sanz not only remains the clear favourite to add yet another Ladies World crown to her tally, but she could also make her presence felt amongst the male competitors, as she looks to create her mark in the men’s World Junior series.
Running from early April through until late September, the 10 round series will visit Japan plus the usual array of European destinations, as well as stopping off in South America for the first time in the history of World outdoor trials. The fight to be champion is sure to be as fierce as ever, but the Repsol Montesa HRC squad are well placed for the battle, with the development of the ground breaking four-stroke over the last three seasons astonishing even the most experienced paddock pundits.
