Red Bull MotoGP Academy

The objective of the Red Bull Academy is to create a structure that allows riders of different nationalities to be trained in such a way as to progress into MotoGP in the future. The project includes all aspects related to preparing a rider for the rigours of competition, including the psycho-physical development as well as the racing itself.

After a selection process amongst the most promising young riders in Europe, the chosen riders will be offered the chance to join a year-long programme run by Alberto Puig.

Alberto Piug’s role within this project is vital as he already has vast experience within these initiatives, having discovered and trained riders such as Dani Pedrosa, Toni Elias, Casey Stoner, Chaz Davies and Julian Simon. Last year’s standout graduate from the Academy is Bradley Smith who has shone whilst competing in his rookie 125cc season.

Two working areas will be created: The psycho-physical and the sport.

The psycho-physical preparation is run by specialists who will plan a work schedule which includes a daily training programme as well as extras such as language-learning. Curing the stages within the preparation programmes, those chosen live at the Blume Residence in Barcelona which has excellent facilities and an experienced group of doctors and sport physiotherapists.

Sports preparation is divided into different activities, reliant on specific plans:

Motocross and supermotard training during the winter
Training at race tracks
Participation in the CEV in 125cc
